Now a (liquor) bottle of contention at Manjhi’s residence

Patna,(BiharTimes): After mango and litchi controversy the residence of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi shot into news for an empty bottle of liquor found just behind his own room in the 1, Anney Marg bungalow.

However, Manjhi alleged it was a deep-rooted conspiracy for which he squarely blamed chief minister Nitish Kumar. “”Today some one has thrown a bottle. Tomorrow one may come with a bomb. There is a threat to my life and I hold Nitish Kumar responsible for it,” he told the mediapersons with whom Hindustani Awam Morcha workers present there earlier had a verbal duel.

It all started after some Press photographers tried to take a snap of a bottle found just behind Manjhi’s own room in his official residence.

As it is a high security zone the bottle inside the official residence of chief minister––though Manjhi has not vacated it yet––was bound to attract media’s attention. But the HAM workers resisted them. The mediapersons were there to do a story on something else.

When the matter turned somewhat ugly Manjhi himself appeared on the scene and at once put all the blame on the chief minister.

Apparently there is nothing wrong in the bottle. But the manner in which the family members reacted to the move of the mediapersons created suspicion. Question started doing the rounds about the consumption of liquor in the CM’s residence when Manjhi would always sermonize the Mahadalits to give up this habit.

He would often cite the example of his father too, who used to drink. All this incident took place not far from the spot where Manjhi planted a sapling on the occasion of World Environment Day.

When he was the chief minister one of Mnjhi’s sons reportedly created an ugly scene in inebriated state in his home town, Gaya.

Till now no BJP leader had come to Manjhi’s rescue as they did in case of mango-litchi controversy.
