Nitish calls on Rahul ahead of Janata Parivar meeting

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar called on the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at latter’s residence on Sunday mid-noon. The Rajya Sabha MP of Janata Dal (United), R C P Singh and Bihar in-charge of the Congress party, C P Joshi, were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, according to media reports from New Delhi, Nitish was expected to meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday night. But the meeting could not materialise. The Bihar CM could only meet C P Joshi on Saturday evening.
The latest development took place even after the RJD chief Lalu Prasad conceded that his party is ready to accept all the conditions of Janata Dal (United). Not only that a meeting of Janata Parivar is to take place later in the day.
On Sunday morning Lalu refused to comment on Nitish’s meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
Nitish first went to the official residence of R C P Singh, where Joshi also came. Then at 11:00 AM all three went to the official residence of Rahul Gandhi.
Observers are of the view that Rahul-Nitish meeting is a part of the bargain game being played in Janata Parivar.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesman Dr Shakeel Ahmed said that the meeting is an usual exercise. “In politics we even meet rivals while we are supporting Janata Dal (United) ever since it parted way. So one should not be surprised of it,” he added.
Dr Ahmed said that Nitish is a good chief minister. Even RJD accepts it, that is why it is supporting his government.
On the other hand BPCC chief, Ashok Chaudhary, described the meeting as a ‘normal course’ and added that the elections of Legislative Council and Assembly would have come up during the discussion.
