BJP using Manjhi to garner Dalit votes, says Ambedkar’s grandson

Patna,(BiharTimes): Accusing the BJP of trying to use former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to woo the Dalit votes Anandraj Ambedkar, the grandson of B R Ambedkar, claimed that Bihar election would be fought more on caste lines than on developmental issues, as Narendra Modi had failed to usher in ‘achche din’ as promised during the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Anandraj, who is the head of the Republican Sena, said his outfit would consider contesting the election if it gets resourceful candidates. He alleged that the demands of Dalits are never fulfilled and rulers leave no stone unturned to finish the movement of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

He said that in power politics, these parties try to attract votes by picking a leader from among Dalits. They would then settle him politically and ignore concerns of Scheduled Castes.

According to him until now Congress was engaged in this type of politics and now the BJP is following the same path as can be seen from Manjhi episode, a PTI report from New Delhi said.

He added that Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and BJP came together as the former Bihar CM requires the saffron party and the latter requires him to get Dalit votes which are crucial for attaining power in Bihar.
