BJP now plays Kayastha card ahead of Assembly election

Patna,(BiharTimes): Ahead of the Assembly election the Bharatiya Janata Party is leaving no stone unturned to play caste card. After wooing extremely backward castes, Yadavs and Dalits the saffron party is now playing Kayastha card.
On Sunday its Rajya Sabha MP, R K Sinha, who is also the director of SIS, the largest security agency in Bihar and Jharkhand, organized a Kayastha Samagam in almost packed Shri Krishna Memorial Hall.
Those who took part included Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Union minister of communications and information technology (IT), R K Sinha himself, party MLAs Nitin Navin, Arun Kumar Sinha, Rashmi Verma and MLC Sanjay Mayukh.
The Speakers, especially Ravi Shankar Prasad, in not so many words, tried to woo the castemen towards the BJP. They also expressed concern over the decline in representation of the caste in politics.
Though their population is estimated to be around two per cent there are only three MLAs of this caste in the House of 243. Incidentally all the three are from the BJP.
According to Ravi Shankar the BJP has always given due representation to Kayasthas. Both in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi cabinet, Kayasthas have been given important portfolios.
However, what he did not say is that while Yashwant Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha and Ravi Shankar himself were ministers in the Vajpayee cabinet this time he is alone in the cabinet from this caste.
Even during the UPA rule when Bihar had no Kayastha MP from the ruling Congress Subodk Kant Sahay of Jharkhand was made minister.
The organizers reportedly invited Subodh Kant Sahay and JD(U) MLC Ranbir Nandan, but they did not turn up for obvious reasons.
