Apologetic Nitish blows pre-poll bugle against extremist Hindus

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday called on the partymen, especially the Yuva Janata Dal (United) workers, to fight those Hindus, who hold extremist view as they are out to destabilize the country. “The real fight is between extremist and liberal Hindus. Yuva Janata Dal (United) workers should spread this message,” he added.

Addressing a big meeting of party workers at Gandhi Maidan he said that Ram Manohar Lohia used to say that the country has developed only when the religious liberalism has grown powerful and it had suffered when the extremist ideas have beomce powerful.

Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party the chief minister said that with the Assembly election not far away all efforts would be made by the saffron party to polarize the society on the communal lines. They sought votes in the name of bringing about development, but are now busy raising the issue of love-jehad, ‘ghar wapsi’, char bachcha, das bachcha paida karo. Aapne nahin paida karte hain dusre ko kahte hain…” (They appeal the people to give birth to four children, 10 children, but would not do so themselves).

Once again apologizing to the people for escaping with the responsibility last May he said he would not repeat the mistakes.

Commenting on the Jitan Ram Manjhi government he said that “gadbad koi kar raha hai aur khalnayak hum bante ja rahe the” (I was becoming villain for the wrong being committed by someone else). “Even on February 7 we tried to convince him, but to no avail,” Nitish added. He urged the party workers to go to masses and counter the sinister, false and baseless propaganda of the Bharatiya Janata Party and expose the tall promises it made during the run-up to the last year Lok Sabha election be it on black-money, development, minimum support price etc.

Elaborating it further he said that the Minimum Support Price was increased by just three per cent from the previous year. And when the state government tried to pay the bonus they were asked not to do so.
Nitish termed the ordinance on land acquisition as black law and asked the people to observe a day’s fast against it.

On the recommendation of 14th Finance Commission he said Bihar would be hit hard. In five years the state would lose Rs 50,000 to 60,000 crore.Stating that the fight for the special category status would contine Nitish came down heavily on the Union Budget, which, according to him, only facilitate the corporate sector.

He said that the rise in service tax would increase prices of goods and asked why wealth tax has been wiped out and corporate tax reduced from 30 to 25 per cent.Asking the Narendra Modi government as to when will Achche Din come he said good days have come for only those handful of people who are being benefited, while not for the rest of them in the country.

According to him in nine months the wealth of 10 to 12 billionaires have increased by Rs 82,460 crore. “The property of one of them, and you know who, jumped by Rs 16,440 crore. The figures I am quoting are available on the net and I am giving them with full responsibility,” he said. Greeting Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on becoming the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Nitish asked as to what had happened to
Narendra Modi’s promise of getting rid of ‘baap-beta’ and ‘baap-beti’ syndrome. He then played the record of the election speech made by the prime minister in this regard. He said the JD(U) secretary general K C Tyagi told him that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (the founder of Bharatiya Jan Sangh) died the second time today.

He said that he had fulfilled the promise to improve the power situation and it would continue to improve. He was quite obliged to RJD, Congress and CPI for extending support in the fight against the BJP.Urging the partymen not to waste time, the chief minister said that there should be one party worker after every 10 houses and every booth should have 15-20 workers.

Speaking on the occasion party chief Sharad Yadav termed the Budget as one made for corporate houses. He said in democracy the battle is won with the help of ‘boli’ and not ‘goli’ (bullet).
