Harvard denies having invited Misa Bharati as speaker

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Harvard University has denied that it had invited Dr Misa Bharti, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, to deliver a lecture on governance as was reported by several newspapers in India, especially in Bihar, on Tuesday.

According to ibnlive.com report Dr Bharti had released a few photos to Indian newspapers along with a Press Release stating that she had delivered a lecture at the John F Kennedy School of Governance, Harvard University. Now Harvard has released a statement stating that she was not invited as a speaker at an India Conference held on March 7-8 and the pictures are a gross misrepresentation.“Misa Bharti was invited as part of the audience and not as a speaker of any panel at the India Conference at Harvard.

Her attendee status can also be confirmed from the fact that she had to purchase a ticket as an audience. She was not invited to deliver any lecture,” the statement said.Harvard had to say this after the conference organising committee noticed that Misa Bharti had uploaded some pictures on her own on social media account which were objectionable due to gross misrepresentation.

After the conference ended, Misa allegedly went on stage, took photographs and released it to Indian newspapers along with a Press Release stating that she had delivered a lecture at Harvard. Some newspapers extensively quoted from what she had said in her ‘leture’, especially her ‘views’ about the last year Lok Sabha election, recent Delhi Assembly poll and role of social media.

Shakti Singh Yadav, a spokesman of the party, even went on to said that it is a matter of pride for RJD that Misa was invited for this prestigious event. The truth is that Misa did not deliver any lecture, therefore, no local US newspaper covered her lecture. Since she did not deliver any lecture and there was no official pictures or videos of her with the University.

Those officially invited were Kiran Bedi: Social activist, Sajjan Jindal: JSW Group, Chairman & MD, Adil Zainulbhai: Quality Council of India, Chairman, Dr Habil Khorakiwala: Chairman, Wockhardt Group, Rahul Bose: Actor, director & social activist, Prithviraj Chavan: Former chief minister of Maharashtra; Prof Tarun Khanna: Harvard Business School, Professor Shivshankar Menon: Former National Security
