Bihar set to avail 5,000 MW electricity by end of 2015: Minister


Patna,(BiharTimes): State electricity minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said on Tuesday that the Bihar government is planning to make available 5,000 MW of power by the end of 2015.


Replying to a question of BJP member Rajnish Kumar in the Legislative Council he said at present the supply of electricity in the state is 2,700-2,800 MW, which is targeted to be raised to 5,000 MW by end of the year as some projects are in Pipeline and would start production.


He said that work was in progress on three units of 660 MW each at Nabinagar. According to him land acquisition process is on for setting up two units of 660 MW each at Chausa in Buxar district by Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), a joint venture of the Centre and the Himachal Pradesh government.Yadav said at present 220 MW electricity is being produced from two units of Kanti power plant in Muzaffarpur.The minister said rejuvenation of Barauni thermal power was in progress.
