TV channels make mess of Lalu’s satire on copying

Patna,(BiharTimes): The media over-kill on the issue of mass copying in matriculation examination has a bitter fall-out on Monday.Without understanding the real essence of satire and humour many TV channels, both national and regional, went out to pillory RJD chief Lalu Prasad for his remarks made in Buxar late on Sunday.

Actually he was ridiculing the state’s education minister, Prashant Kumar Shahi, but many in the Fourth Estate proved too wooden-headed to fathom it. Herein lies the tragedy of journalism in this land.

In his own inimitable style Lalu said “had such pictures come during my government we would have allowed examinees to take books...Imagine how many of them would be able to write answers even with books at their disposal, if they have never studied. They would spend all their allocated time searching
for answers.”

He also mocked as to how the policemen were literally caught napping while everything went under their nose.Without taking the name Lalu flayed Shahi’s utter helplessness. He said visuals shown across the globe had tarnished the image of Bihar.

He got an opportunity to score point over the Nitish government by stating that such a visual of people scaling walls like lizards to throw chits inside the exam halls was not there during the RJD rule.He conceded that use of unfair means in examination was not a new phenomenon, but things were not so bad.

Lalu feared that the visuals would make people disbelieve the degrees and certificates of state. Mark it Lalu’s RJD, with its 25 MLAs, is supporting the minority Nitish government in Bihar.
