Patna,(BiharTimes): The Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge is likely to become operational soon.This information was given by the chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh after his videoconferencing with prime minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

He said that the prime minister inquired about the status of the bridge whose foundation was laid down by the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in February 2002. Initially it was just a rail bridge. Nitish Kumar was then the railway minister.

But after Lalu Prasad became the railway minister he added road bridge in it in 2006.The chief secretary said that the land to connect the link road would be acquired within a month. Almost 80 per cent of land has been acquired.

After that road would be laid on both the ends and the bridge would thus become operational.He said the prime minister asked about Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and number of toilets built in the schools. The chief secretary informed the prime minister that all the toilets in schools would be repaired by June next while the new ones would take some more time.
