Centre refuses Nitish permission to visit Janakpur in Nepal

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar was on Sunday not granted permission by the Centre to visit Janakpur district in Nepal on the border with Bihar. The Bihar CM wanted to visit the place to review the quake relief work. As Nitish has been touring a number of earthquake hit districts of Bihar he deemed it fit to pay a visit to Nepal too, but the external affairs ministry did not grant him the permission at the last moment.

Calling the incident as unfortunate the national secretary general of the Janata Dal (United) K C Tyagi strongly criticized this move of the Narendra Modi government. He said that one must understand that cent per cent population of Janakpur is of Bihari origin and are related to the people of the state, so the chief minister of Bihar has every right to visit it in this hour of crisis. He said that there should be no scope for politics at this point of time.

He said when Mamata Banerjee can visit Dhaka last week and meet the Bengalis living in Bangladesh why was Nitish prevented from going to Nepal. He said that the President of Nepal, Ram Baran Yadav, too is a Madhesi, that is of Bihari origin.

He said that the Nepal government has no objection and it even welcomed Nitish’s decision to visit the Himalyan republic.

Tyagi asked if two central government officals can visit Nepal why Nitish was denied permission. Janakpur incidentally is the birth place of Sita.
