BJP MP accuses DPS Patna of failing students to extract money


Patna,(BiharTimes): Raising the issue in Lok Sabha on Wednesday BJP MP from Bihar Sanjay Jaiswal accused the Delhi Public School (DPS), Patna of deliberately failing students or not promoting them to higher classes so that it could force parents to cough up money.


The MP, while raising the issue in Zero Hour, said at least 30 students of the school had to seek psychiatric counseling as two girls developed ‘suicidal tendencies’.“Students were deliberately failed so that their parents could be blackmailed," he charged. Such private schools had become a “money-minting” exercise and even “illiterates’ could have a license to open a DPS School by paying enough money.


According to a PTI report he asked the government to take appropriate measures to ensure that private schools show answer-sheets when asked.HRD minister Smriti Irani assured the MP that she would ask the CBSE to conduct an inquiry into the matter and added that she would consider his suggestions.Other members also voiced concern over the ‘unethical’ practices of private schools Only a couple of months back some school teachers of DAV, BSEB Colony, Patna were arrested and principal suspended on the alleged charge of failing a girl student of Class-XI to extract money from her parents.
