The Assembly elections in Bihar are likely to be held in September or October.The electoral rolls will be ready on July 31, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said, terming the polls in Bihar the “mother of all elections”.

Going by precedents, the elections would be held in September or October, he said adding the commission was yet to begin the process of finalising a schedule. The term of the current Assembly ends in November.

Mr. Zaidi said the commission would have to take into account the weather, including the monsoon and likely floods, festivals, exams, and holidays before arriving at the schedule. He refused to go into the number of phases for the polls.
