Urban local bodies representatives to get allowances


Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday gave its consent to the proposal to provide allowances, including daily allowance and travelling allowance, to the elected representatives of local urban bodies on monthly basis instead of on daily basis. Each ward councillor will get Rs 1,500 per month and Nagar Panchayat ward members Rs 1,000 per month with effect from April 1, 2015.


The cabinet also okayed the transfer of medical college at Bihta in Patna district, which is currently under construction by the centrally-sponsored Employees State Insurance Corporation under the Union Labour and Employment Ministry on a long-term lease to the state government. As per the long-term agreement, the revenue from it will be equally shared.


The cabinet approved a sum of Rs 1.50 crore for providing financial assistance to various sports bodies in the state to promote and encourage sportspersons to participate in national events. This amount would also be used to help needy sportspersons for doing diploma in sports coaching, medical assistance and for purchasing sports equipment.


The cabinet also gave a green signal to a proposal of the urban development and housing department for the implementation of centrally-sponsored Swachch Bharat Mission project in all the urban bodies. It also approved the implementation of Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana for Gaya and Bodh Gaya towns.


The cabinet also extended the services of all contract employees working in Bihar State Road Development Corporation for a period of one year.It was also decided to rename the Sadar hospital, Bhagalpur, as Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital, Nathnagar Referral Hospital as Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Hospital, Madhepura Medical College as Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital, and Mokama Referral Hospital as Baijnath Sharma Hospital in the memory of Hindi novelist.In all 24 agenda came up for the cabinet approval.
