Ashamed of being Indian, or Bihari: NaMo, Nitish two sides of the same coin

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar may be right in criticizing prime minister Narendra Modi’s statement given in China and South Korea that earlier “Indians were ashamed of being born in the country until he took office”.

But is not it a fact that till a year back, especially when he was with the BJP, Nitish used to speak the same language. It is other thing that after joining hands with the RJD he is not using the same diction now.

True Narendra Modi used a much cruder way of speaking which does not behove a prime minister and that too in a foreign land. But Nitish Kumar has also said a number of times that before he became the chief minister of Bihar people of the state would feel ashamed in disclosing their identity outside the state. But that was not confined to the 15-year rule of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi.

“By this logic if Narendra Modi had brought in Indian pride, it is Nitish Kumar who instilled the Bihari pride. Both the claims are nonsense. Political differences should not blind one of the reality,” a journalist associated with a reputed media-hourse of the world, told BiharTimes.

But if Biharis were ridiculed and beaten up in Maharashtra (or any other states) by the Sena men during the Lalu-Rabri rule they are getting the same treatement now.So if the Indian pride has increased over the years it is not because of Narendra Modi, but because of the grit, determination and hard labour of the countrymen. It has nothing to do with Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Manmohan Singh or anyone else in prime ministerial seat.

But NaMo and Nitish are similar in many other ways too. For example, they both adopt the same strategy against their political rivals. Now they are adopting the same person/company for the election campaign. For example, the Chai Pe Charcha man, Prashant Kishor, is being wooed by Nitish Kumar for the election campaign this year.
