Salman Khurshid flays PM’s “ashamed of being born in India” remarks

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former external affairs minister Salman Khurshid said prime minister Narendra Modi’s remarks in China (as well as in South Korea) that “Indians were ashamed of having been born in India” till he took over will be remembered by Chinese for years to come.

Talking to the media at the Congess party headquarters in Sadaquat Ashram in Patna on Saturday he said foreign policy does not mean only visiting foreign countries.

Commenting on PM’s claim that the country has moved from “scam-India” to “skill-India” Salman Khurshid said Narendra Modi’s statements instead have created a “kill-India” impact as it has tarnished the carefully-built image of the country. According to the Congress leader even the prime minister’s concept of Make in India lacks clarity. It is not clear whether the products will be sold in India or exported.

Similarly, the policy on Pakistan, the Gulf countries, Iran, the US or even African countries is not clear, the Congress leader said.

Strongly criticizing Narendra Modi’s statement that Bihar should get rid of caste politics, Salman Khurshid said the PM has no right to say so as the BJP fought the 2014 Lok Sabha election by whipping up caste politics.

However, during the Press conference the former External Affairs minister did not give much importance to current political development in Bihar where the Assembly election is due later this year. He just said that changes are taking place in politics every day and the Congress party leadership would take a decision on forming a coalition after evaluation of the local conditions and inputs from the Bihar unit. It is clear there is only one secular front. “We are already working together in Parliament,” he said.
