JD(U) inducts Gaya don ahead of election

Patna,(BiharTimes): Keeping an eye on the coming Assembly election the Janata Dal (United) has inducted into the party fold the notorious strongman of Gaya, Bindeshwari Yadav alias Bindi Yadav. The party is likely to field his wife, Manorama Devi, to contest the coming Bihar Legislative Council election from the Gaya local bodies seat.

She had been in the Council between 2003 and 2009 too.Bindi, along with Bachu Yadav, were known for all the wrong reasons in the post-Mandal era of 1990s. Rival political parties consider them as a counterweight to RJD’s strongman, Surendra Yadav, Belaganj MLA.However, the then district magistrate Rajbala Verma and SP Sunil Kumar booked Bindi and Bachu under Crime Control Act.

Bindi’s induction into Janata Dal (United) has come as a big surprise as chief minister Nitish Kumar has always talked about good governance or ‘susashan’.But this is not just one isolated case. The JD(U), even when it was in alliance with the BJP, has been promoting such dons

in the past too. It is other thing that the media tend to underplay them then. The story of election of Ajay Singh’s wife, Kavita Singh, four years back is a known case. The Gaya district president of Janata Dal (United), Abhay Kushwaha, defends Bindi’s induction on the plea that he has been acquitted in all the case so legally speaking is not a criminal.

He said that Bindi has been in the RJD in the past and has unsuccessfully contested Assembly election as an Independent too.
