Bihar Grand Alliance demands PM's resignation

Patna, Oct 31 (IANS) The Grand Alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress on Saturday demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he lowered the dignity of the top constitutional post by baseless and factless allegations against RJD chief Lalu Prasad that he was convicted in a multi-crore fodder scam.

"We demand resignation of PM Modi for lowering dignity of the top post by baseless and factless allegations against Lalu in his election rallies on Friday," senior RJD leader and former union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said at a press meet here.

Modi, in an election rally in Gopalganj district on Friday, wondered why Lalu's property had not been seized even though he had been convicted in a fodder scam case.

"Laluji has been convicted in a corruption case. Have you seized his house and opened a school in it?. Whom are you fooling, Nitish Babu?" Modi asked in reference to a 2009 Bihar law providing for seizure of property of corruption-accused public servants.

"The case against Lalu Prasad in the fodder scam was dismissed by the apex court and he was not convicted in the case. It is an open secret," Singh said.
