Punish those who ruined Bihar, Modi tells voters

Sasaram (Bihar), Oct 9 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that Bihar voters have made up their mind to punish those who ruined the state.

At a rally in Bihar's Sasaram town, district headquarters of Rohtas, he also questioned Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad for not contesting the polls. The first phase will be held on Monday.

"The three parties (Congress-RJD-JD(U) who used to fight against each other, have come together. Why have they suddenly come together? They have come together only for power, and this is called opportunism of politics. They have ruled Bihar for 60 years and have ruined the state," Modi said.

"But the voters have made up their mind to punish those who ruined Bihar," he said.

Modi questioned: "Ask Laluji why he is not contesting the election this time. He wants to run Bihar with a remote control and thinks he is the Big Boss," he said.

He targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said the Janata Dal-United leader's "arrogance will cost him dear".

"The people who have turned Bihar into a 'Jungle Raj', have the audacity to talk about it now. Vikas Raj is needed in Bihar to solve all its problems," the prime minister said.

Modi will address one more rally in Aurangabad district on Friday afternoon.

Modi had addressed four rallies in Bihar on Thursday - at Munger, Samastipur, Begusarai and Nawada districts. He sought support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA in the state polls.

Modi, who described the grand alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress as "Maha Swarthbandhan" on Thursday, asked what those three parties did for Bihar.

"Now Bihar needs 'Vikaas Raj', not 'Jungle Raj'," Modi said.
