It does not behove PM to speak in such a way: Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): Commenting on Narendra Modi’s criticism of Bihar chief minister that he was not aware of the earthquake and that his government did nothing for the victims of Kosi relief of 2008 Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday that it does not behove (shobha nahin deta hai) the prime minister of the country to speak in such a way. Nitish said that the prime minister was speaking in such a way as if everyone was aware that quake is going to come. “Yes I was in Delhi. All the CMs had to go to Delhi. There is nothing wrong in it,” he told mediapersons a couple of hours after Modi finished his speech in Bhagalpur.

“Is not he aware as to what the state government did after the earthquakes, which rocked Bihar on April 25, 26 and May 12?” Nitish said adding that though he was in Delhi, yet he was well aware of the tragedy which struck. He said he flew to Patna, held meeting and immediately started relief works.

The state government opened a centre in Raxaul and round-the-clock arrangements were made.
“Has he forgotten how much work we did during the Kosi deluge. The Press praised our government’s efforts and media-houses awarded us for it. What is the prime minister of the country speaking now?” the Bihar CM said.

On Prime Minister’s reference to the failure in the health sector Nitish said that two of the three health ministers during the NDA tenure in Bihar were with him. Nand Kishore Yadav and Ashwini Choubey were sitting beside, while Chandra Mohan Rai was absent. It would have been better for the prime minister to ask them before opening his mouth on the health sector.

According to him Narendra Modi was defensive in his speech at Bhagalpur. It appears that he is rattled as the economy has slowed down.

Nitish said why would the people not ask the PM to give the account of work done in the last 15 months when his government promised to distribute Rs 15-20 lakh black money, implement One Rank and One Pension and increase Minimum Support Price in no time. Will the farmers have to wait for increase in the MSP for five years, when three crops have already been harvested?

The chief minister countered point by point all the charges levelled by the PM on Tuesday.
