Manjhi not to contest Assembly election

Patna,(BiharTimes): As expected former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will not contest the coming Assembly election in Bihar.
According to reports the BJP may sent him to Rajya Sabha after the Assembly election is over.
The removal of Manjhi from the state scene will reduce the tussle for the post of chief minister within the National Democratic Alliance.
However, political observers are of the view that once Manjhi is out of the race for the post of chief minister the Mahadalits may not be so inclined to vote for the BJP-led NDA.
In the last Lok Sabha election merely 42 per cent of Scheduled Castes voted for the NDA, which was highest till now.
This was largely because of Paswans, who voted overwhelmingly (68 per cent) for the NDA, largely because of the Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan.
Now with Hindustani Awam Morcha not likely to get much seats and Manjhi kept away from the state scene it would be a challenging task for the NDA to cross the 42 per cent mark this time.
