PM Modi's visit to Bihar was bad omen: Lalu Prasad

Patna, Sep 11 (IANS) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Friday said Bihar is facing a rainfall deficit after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the state last month.

"Modi's visit to Bihar was a curse. Modi's feet are inauspicious. There is no rainfall in Bihar after Modi visited the state. Millions of farmers are worried," Lalu said at a function organised by a news channel here.

According to local weather official A.K. Sen, there is an over 22 percent deficit rainfall in Bihar that is likely to increase by the third week of september.

Modi has visited Bihar five times in the last two months. He addressed four BJP 'parivartan' rallies and visited Bodh Gaya this month.

Lalu said Modi had failed to fulfil any of the promises he made to the people. "People have linked the issue of black money to price rise but he is keeping silent."

Lalu also accused the BJP of playing caste-politics. "BJP has been projecting a Rajput caste leader and union Minister Radha Mohan Singh as chief ministerial candidate in an area with a sizeable Rajput population and a Bhumihar leader and former union minister C.P. Thakur in villages dominated by Bhumihars."

Lalu said that if RJD and Nitish Kumar's JD-U had not joined forces for the Bihar assembly polls, the BJP-led NDA would have swept the state like it did in the last Lok Sabha polls.

"Nitish Kumar is my younger brother, we are with him... BJP is desperately trying to divide people belonging to the Yadav caste... But the Yadavs are not going to split," he said.

Lalu also revealed that women in large numbers want a selfie with him. "I am popular in and outside the country. My fans are everywhere. Women want selfies with me. I, however, caution them not to misuse it."
