RSS-BJP want to end reservation in the country: Nitish Kumar

Patna, Sep 23 (IANS) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) want to end reservation in the country, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said here on Wednesday.

"The RSS and the BJP want to end reservation in the country. The demand to review the present reservation policy, which was given by the Constitution of the country, is part of their strategy," Nitish said at a press conference here.

He earlier released a list of 242 candidates of the the grand alliance of the Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and the Congress for the state assembly polls.

"Demand to review the reservation policy is a dangerous thing," Nitish Kumar said.

"The latest comments by RSS chief (Mohan Bhagwat) on the issue of reservation clearly show that he thinks that the present status of the reservation policy is not right. The RSS wants an extra-constitutional committee to decide who gets quotas and who doesn't. This is a dangerous thought," the chief minister said.

"BJP is a political organisation of the RSS, it is nothing more than that and has no credibility in front of RSS."

On Tuesday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad said that if the RSS and BJP have the guts to end reservation, they should do it.
