IB officer from Patna abducted in Meghalaya

Patna,(BiharTimes): The search operation to rescue Intelligence Bureau (IB) official originally from Patna, Vikas Kumar Singh, continued in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

According to Inspector General of Police (Operations) of Meghalaya, G H P Raju the search operations had been intensified in the Rongara area of South Garo Hills from where the officer is suspected to have been abducted.

He added that the BSF was keeping a tight vigil to trace Singh. The Rongara area of South Garo Hills is close to the Bangladesh border.

“The BSF has been assisting Meghalaya police in carrying out the search operation,” Raju was quoted in The Telegraph.

He said that Inspector General (Western Range) F D Sangma had been supervising the operation in South Garo Hills and its neighbouring districts.

Reports said that Vikas Singh, a resident of Patna, has been posted in Rongara for the past year. IB officials in the Garo Hills said his family had arrived in Meghalaya following his abduction. His marriage has been fixed for later this year.
