Why no ban on foreign-made liquor, asks Manjhi

Patna,(BiharTimes): While welcoming the pledge taken by all the 243 MLAs that they would not touch wine former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi questioned the very intention of the Nitish Kumar government on the issue of prohibition.

Talking to the media in Darbhanga on Friday he termed the state government’s move a ‘dikhawa’ (show).

Charging chief minister Nitish Kumar with taking these measures under pressure Manjhi claimed that poor would turn poorer if only the country-made liquor, and not the foreign-made liquor, are banned. This would increase crime.

“Why is the state government not enforcing total prohibition,” he asked adding that when he was in the power he had banned ‘gutka’ too, but no such action is being taken in this regard now.
