Women celebrate Holi to mark the start of prohibition

Patna,(BiharTimes): A large number of women, many of them associated with Rashtriya Mahila Brigade, played Holi, took out rallies, sang and danced at various nooks and corners of the state to welcome the imposition of prohibition in Bihar from April 1.

They raised slogans praising chief minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad for taking bold decision. They said that rampant alcoholism was taking a heavy toll on the family life and was one of the important causes for the rise of domestic violence in Bihar.

Such celebrations by women organizations and self-help groups were not only confined to Patna, but took place in other towns and villages of the state.

Rashtriya Mahila Brigade, Mahila Jagaran Kendra, Bihar Women’s Network and several other women organizations were in the forefront of the movement demanding ban on liquor.

They even criticized the BJP and its allies for opposing the liquor policy of the government just for opposition sake.
