5,871 primary schools in Bihar have no building: Minister

 

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): In all 5,871 primary schools in Bihar do not have their own buildings.
This information was given by the Education Minister Ashok Choudhary while replying to a query by BJP MLC Sanjay Mayukh in the Legislative Council on Friday. He said it is being reviewed whether or not these schools are required anymore.


Out of 21,419 primary schools which have been sanctioned under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, so far 21,100 have been set up in the state. Of 21,100 primary schcools, district administration has furnished reports of construction of buildings for 15,229 after getting land for the purpose. The process of identification of land is yet to be completed for construction of buildings for 5,871 schools in the states, the minister said.


Replying to another question raised by Lal Babu Prasad of the BJP, the minister said that the state government has approved a new pay-scale with effect from July 1, 2015 for teachers appointed on consolidated pay by rural and urban local bodies.
