Two-child norm essential for safety of our daughters: Giriraj

Patna,(BiharTimes): Union minister of state for MSME, Giriraj Singh, said on Wednesday that two-child norm is essential for the development of the country as well as for the safety of “our daughters or else the day is not far away when they may have to be kept under the veil like in Pakistan.”

(“Nahin toh hamein bhi Pakistan ki tarah apni betiyon ko parde mein bandh karna hoga (Otherwise, like Pakistan, we too will have to keep our daughters under veil),” he said, while speaking at a cultural yatra in Bagha in West Champaran on Wednesday.

He called for revocation of voting right for all those having more than two children. If Malaysia and Indonesia can make norms why cannot India think of one. But there should be a balance. The law should be universal and applicable on all religions, Hindu, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians etc. A law on population control is the need of the hour if the fruit of development is to reach everyone.

The Nawada MP expressed concern over decline of Hindu population in at least seven districts of Bihar, including Kishanganj and Araria, where the Muslim population has been increasing at a faster pace than that of Hindus.

He claimed that at the time of Independence the population of Hindus in India was 90 per cent. Now it is between 72 and 74. (But 2011 Census says it is around 80 per cent).
