VIP security cover withdrawn from ailing George Fernandes

Patna,(BiharTimes): The state government on Tuesday decided to withdraw VIP security from former defence minister and veteran JD(U) leader, George Fernandes.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the state security committee, which was attended by Additional Director-General (Special Branch), joint Director of the Intelligence Bureau apart from other senior officials of the state government recently.

After deletion of George’s name the Socialist stalwart would no longer be entitled to get any sort of categorised security blanket during his visit to the state.

Though the BJP leader Prem Kumar and other associates of George strongly criticized the move Janata Dal (United) leader Shyam Rajak said that since George is ailing he needs ‘sewa’ (service) rather than ‘suraksha’ (security).

Hitting out at the BJP he alleged that the Centre is generously providing Z-plus and other categories of security cover to those who do not deserve them. He was obviously referring to Madhepura MP, Pappu Yadav.
