Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) on Wednesday cancelled its land lease to the P & M Mall, the first mall of the state capital.

Owned by film-maker Prakash Jha the fate of the Mall now hangs in balance. The BIADA issued the order cancelling the lease agreement owing to non-payment of lease fee amounting to Rs 2.70 crore with retrospective effect from 2009.

However, it is yet not clear when the authorities would order shutting down of the Mall, which is located in the Patliputra Industrial Area. It was inaugurated by chief minister Nitish Kumar in April 2011. It houses state’s first multiplex besides shopping complex and exclusive showrooms of multi-national brands.
The action was taken after several reminders were sent to the Mall-owners in the last three years. The owners semt no reply.

According to the state industry minister Jai Kumar Singh the decision was taken after the mall owners failed to pay lease rent to BIADA within the stipulated timeframe. The lease of several other land allottees have also been cancelled due to the same reason. So it would be wrong to say that the Mall has been singled out for action.
