Nitish not prime ministerial candidate of JD(U): K C Tyagi

Patna,(BiharTimes): Janata Dal (United) secretary general, K C Tyagi, on Friday made it amply clear that though the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had prime ministerial material he is not the prime ministerial candidate of his party.

Commenting on Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar’s statement Tyagi said that neither the JD(U) nor any leader of the party has ever said that Nitish Kumar is the prime ministerial candidate.

“Nitish Kumar is busy roping in all the non-BJP parties. This is the need of the hour as the BJP government has encouraged divisive politics in the last two years. One cannot ignore the Congress in any such exercise as it is bigger party than the Janata Dal (United),” he said.

Earlier, Sharad Pawar said in a newspaper interview that Nitish’s suggestion of like-minded parties coming together is a good idea. After all Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar has provided an alternative. One can not rule Nitish out of hand, he said.
