Dry Bihar strengthens Excise Intelligence Bureau

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): Three weeks after the imposition of ban on sale and consumption of liquor the Nitish Kumar cabinet on Thursday decided to create more posts in the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB).
It gave its nod for the creation of additional nine posts of gazetted and non-gazetted ranks of officers to keep a vigil on illegal supply, consumption and transportation of liquor.


According to the Principal Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) Brajesh Mehrotra one deputy excise commissioner, one assistant excise commissioner, two excise inspectors and five assistant excise inspectors would be appointed in the EIB.


The EIB till now was virtually a non-existent government organization.


The cabinet cleared a proposal to create 27 posts of data entry operators for quick disposal of various legal cases.


Besides, the cabinet also gave its approval to increase the dearness allowance of its employees and pension holders from 119% to 125% with effect from January 1, 2016.


The state would incur an additional financial burden of Rs 841.98 crore on this count.


It also cleared a proposal to form a committee to draft Bihar disaster risk reduction framework road map (2015-2030).


The cabinet approved Rs 112.84cr for the construction of skill development training centres in all 534 blocks. This work will be done in collaboration with the State Building Construction Corporation and Bihar Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation. Work is expected to be over within four months, Mehrotra said.
