North-Eastern trains now to run via Patliputra, to bypass Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): From August 6 six pairs of long distance express trains will run via the Barauni-Shahpur Patori-Sonepur-Pataliputra Junction-Danapur route instead of the Barauni-Mokama-Patna route.

This decision has been taken to further streamline traffic movement of long distance trains passing through Patna junction and reduce the congestion on Barauni-Mokama-Patna section.

The Rajendra rail-cum-road bridge between Mokama and Barauni  too is in very poor condition and needs thorough repair work.

The railway is also going to introduce a new weekly express train from Agartala to Anand Vihar (14019-14020) from August 8 after Tripura’s capital comes on the railway map of the country. This train will pass through the same new route.

According to ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak the six trains are Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12423-12424), Guwahati-Anand Vihar North East Express (12505-12506), Guwahati-New Delhi Porvattar Samparak Kranti Express (12501-12502), Silchar-New Delhi Porvattar Samparak Kranti Express (15601-15602), Jogbani-Anand Vihar Seemanchal Express (12487-12488) and Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhaya AC Express (12519-12520).

He, however, said the Lokmanya Tilak-Kamakhaya AC Express will run on the new route from August 1 itself.

All these trains will have permanent stoppage at Pataliputra Junction and temporary stoppage at Danapur station.
