Young Bihar-origin woman on way to Kabul arrested for suspect IS-link

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): A 29-year-old woman, born and brought up in Gulf but with roots in Sitamarhi district of noth Bihar,  was detained and later on arrested on Sunday morning at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

She was arrested with the passport number N 692008.

Reports from Delhi and Kerala said that Yasmin Mohammad, who was allegedly planning to join the Islamic State (IS), was planning to fly to Kabul. She was with her five year old son.

Daughter of Mahammed Zahid a native of village Muraul under Bajopatti police station area in Sitamarhi district Yasmin got married to a man from the same district.

Her parents had lived in Gulf, where two of his brothers––Qasim and Imran––too are working.

 

However, the marriage did not last long.

The man she was first married to was a scholar in Arabic. Both of them were teacher by profession. They went to Kerala as teachers in the Peace International School. It was there that she got divorced.

Yasmin then met Abdul Rasheed in the same school, where the latter used to work as manager.

Rasheed, according to Kerala Police, is one among the 21 youths who went missing from the state last month. He reportedly went to Kabul and sent her SMS to join him there.

For last one year she has been living in Delhi along with her son and came to Bihar to meet her parents.

The mother and son were going to board a flight to Kabul, but were stopped at the Immigration at New Delhi. She has been handed over to Delhi Police’s special cell and later taken into custody by a team from Kerala Police. She has been sent to judicial custody by a Kerala court.

She reportedly told police that she went to Delhi few days back from Patna.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said he had not got any copy or information regarding her look out notice issued by the Kerala Police.
