BJP supported scrapping of governor’s post in the past: Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): Reiterating that his party, Janata Dal (United), was in favour of scrapping the post of Governor, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday questioned the silence of the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party which, according to the JD(U) national president, had supported his stand on this issue in the past.

He said all parties except Congress have favoured scrapping the post of Governor.

When it was in opposition the BJP was in favour of abolition of the post and now when it is in the power in the Centre the party is silent.

Nitish asked what is the need of the post of Governor in a federal structure, which has an elected government at the Centre as well as the state, which are accountable to the people.
