Raghuvansh seeks recall of stringent excise law, but supports ban on liquor

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former Union rural development minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Thursday criticized the new amendments made in the excise law.

Talking to the media he said that the state machinery should not be used to punish innocent people.

Raghuvansh demanded recall of the new law and said that even the Janata Dal (United) legislators are against it. The police too are on the warpath and the government should talk to them.

Flaying the collective fines and penalizing family members he said jurisprudence is the eye of the law. As per that if any innocent is punished for a crime he or she had not committed, it is more incorrect than releasing culprit for his or her crime. Such law should not be implemented.

However, he supported the decision to ban sale and consumption of liquor.
