Academic year starts with dress-code for girls’ PU colleges

Patna,(BiharTimes):  With the start of another academic session girls’ colleges of Patna University have once again started imposing the dress code.

After Patna Women’s College it is Magadh Mahila College which has announced a shalwar-only dress diktat on campus. The new dress code would come into effect from August 16.  A notice in this regard was issued by the College authorities on Friday.

The girls have been barred from wearing skirts, jeans, leggings, palazzo pants, hot pants and shorts.

The notice was more clear on  legwear––only shalwar and notihg else, though T-shirts and tops have also been banned.

According to college principal Asha Singh the Student Central Society (the students’ cabinet) asked her to implement a strict dress code on the campus as many first year students are not properly dressed.

She said that she herself observed several girls wearing inappropriate dresses. They would be rusticated if they continue to wear after the new dress code is implemented.

Any student caught wearing anything else but a shalwar and the college blazer with logo emblazoned on it, will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 and their name will be registered in the college indiscipline book. If they are caught again, they would be rusticated.

Earlier this month Patna Women’s College, like in the past years, too announced its dress code.
