Stop unduly worrying about state’s revenue, Nitish tells opposition

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday asked the opposition parties not to be unduly worried about revenue collection from ‘unethical trade’, that is, excise duty on liquor.

Rubbishing aside the charge about alleged financial crisis in Bihar due to fall in revenue earnings after enforcement of total prohibition he said all development schemes, including those taken up under the Seven Resolves programme, would be completed on time as there was no fiscal crisis anywhere in the state.

“I have no idea about any financial crisis. I do not know how they are telling all these things. After all, how much money used to come to the state exchequer from this immoral trade? Why are they so worried for collecting money from such immoral trade?” Nitish asked.

Addressing a function at Gandhi Sangrahalaya after inaugurating a mural on Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of 70th IndependenceDay Nitish said he wanted to clarify that when he came to power in 2005, it was free flow of illicit liquor in the state. His government just regulated it by breaking the unethical chain of manufacturers and traders.
