Bihar fights to get 179 MW more power from Nabinagar plant

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar will get additional 179 MW power from the 1,980 MW Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station in Aurangabad district of the state.

This power station is being developed by Nabinagar Power Generating Company Ltd (NPGCL) in the Aurangabad district. Each of the three units of 660 MW is being developed under Stage I of the plant.

NPGCL is a joint venture firm between NTPC and Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd. It is in the process of developing a 3,300 MW power project (5X660 MW) near village Majhiyan and Ankorha railway station in Aurangabad.

The Centre later gave its principle nod for setting up a sixth unit of 660 MW taking the total project capacity to generate 3960 MW.

The Centre had some times back conceded the state’s demand and allocated 69 per cent, that is,  1,374 MW of power to Bihar from 1,980 MW of Stage I of the power plant.

Now with the additional 179 MW of allocation, the state will get a total 1,553 MW of power from Stage I, whose first unit of 660 MW is expected to start generation from March 2017 while other two units of 660 MW each by September 2017 and March 2018.
