No action would be taken against family members of hooch tragedy victims

Patna,(BiharTimes):  Dispelling the fear of collective punitive action chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday assured the family members of the victims of hooch tragedy in Gopalganj that they would instead get Rs four lakh as compensation if the forensic report confirms that they died after drinking spurious liquor.

Speaking at a function in Patna he said that the incident has given further fillip to his resolve on banning the sale, manufacture and consumption of liquor in Bihar.
He said it would be wrong to mix hooch tragedy with prohibition as they both are entirely different issues.

The chief minister said that those involved in the tragedy would be severely dealt with and the government would soon reach the bottom of the fact.

Nitish’s assurance came as a big relief to the family members of all the 15 victims as they were fearing action under the new excise law.
