State-wide doctors strike hit functioning in hospitals

Patna,(BiharTimes): Doctors of the state are on a day-long strike on Saturday in protest against the rise in crime against them and enactment of a new law for running private clinics.
The strike has its impact on OPDs too though Emergency services have not been touched.

The strike is causing immense hardship to poor patients who were not aware of any such agitation even though the doctors’ bodies have given the call a few days back.

Work in all the government hospitals have been paralyzed. Even private clinics and hospitals have not been spared.
The Indian Medical Association and Bihar State Health Services Association (BSHSA) have demanded action against the ‘killer’ of Dr S B Singh, who reportedly committed suicide at Jokihaat primary health centre in Araria district. But the family members and local doctors claimed that he was killed by criminals, who had threatened him sometime back. The doctors are, among other things, demanding a CBI probe into his killing and payment of Rs 25 lakh ex gratia to his family.

Earlier on Friday on the eve of the strike the Saharsa police on Thursday arrested two persons Santish Yadav and Kartik Kumar Chaudhary for allegedly demanding Rs 25 lakh from a local doctor Brajesh Kumar Singh.
Two country-made pistols, a SIM card and a mobile phone besides Rs 1.42 lakh were recovered from their possession.

Reports said that an unsuccessful attempt was made on his life on July 26, when someone fired shot at him.
The doctors of Saharsa were on warpath since August 10, when the call was made. They called off the stir on Thursday night.

On the other hand Junior Doctors of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Bhagalpur went on strike in protest against attack on them on Friday.
The police had earlier nabbed Vishal Singh and Ranjit Ranjan for their alleged involvement in the case
