Bihar BJP may soon have a new president

Patna,(BiharTimes): The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party may soon have a new president. Party’s national president Amit Shah invited former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi,  former leader of opposition in the state Assembly, Nand Kishore Yadav and several other state party leaders to New Delhi.

BJP watchers are of the view that the party was planning to replace Mangal Pandey soon after the defeat in the last November’s Assembly election. But as it would give a wrong signal the party put off its decision.

Party insiders feel that the party may either opt for a Brahmin––as Mangal Pandey is––or anyone from Extremely Backward Castes as the president.

The present leader of opposition in the state Assembly, Pre Kumar, too is from an EBC caste.

Political observers are of the view that the party may go for Brahimin because  it felt that a section of this castemen had drifted towards the Congress in the Assembly election.
