Vigilance raid on engineer yields moveable assets worth Rs 2.71 crore




Patna,(BiharTimes): The special vigilance unit (SVU) on Wednesday raided the residential premises of an assistant engineer of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO), Kameshwar Prasad Singh and recovered moveable disproportionate assets (DA), including cash and jewellery, worth Rs 2.71 crore.

Sources said the value of his immoveable properties including flats is yet to be assessed.

It needs to be mentioned that an FIR was lodged with the SVU on August 3, following which it started procuring his asset details.

According to  SVU IG Ratan Sanjay the assistant engineer in his asset declaration to the state government did not mention the details of five lockers.

They are in the name of Singh, his government school-teacher wife Manju Singh, his son, daughter-in-law and daughter.

The SVU found gold jewellery worth about Rs 1.39 crore from the bank lockers. Two gold bricks worth around Rs 61 lakh were seized from the locker of Singh’s daughter, Ekta Priyadarshinee. One of the gold necklaces found from the lockers is worth Rs 13 lakh.
