Congress silences BJP after Gujarat minister praises Bihar prohibition law

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) sought to corner the state leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party after a Gujarat minister praised the prohibition law of this state.

Quoting a Times of India report “Booze ban: Gujarat envious of Bihar Model” state Congress spokesman H K  Verma said Gujarat's minister of state (home) Pradipsinh Jadeja has admitted that provisions in the Gujarat prohibition law are lenient for offenders.

Verma said the Gujarat minister had also said that he would study the new prohibition law of Bihar and take whatever action possible on its basis to make his law more effective.

As per the report, the former Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel had initiated process of adopting useful aspects of the Bihar prohibition law.

“Now, since a BJP government has started process to adopt the Bihar prohibition law, the saffron party leaders should stop criticising Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for the same. In fact, the BJP functionaries should apologise to Nitish Kumar,” Verma said.

The Congress leader also said Bihar is these days struggling with one of the most devastating floods in the recent years.

“In such a situation, the Bihar BJP leaders should put pressure on the Centre for release of adequate financial assistance to Bihar for carrying out flood relief camps, instead of criticising the Grand Alliance government for its new prohibition law,” he said.
