Sharp fall in Bihar’s gender ratio raises questions

Patna,(BiharTimes): Is it really possible or statistical error.?

The gender ratio of Bihar went down from 924 in 2013 to 868 in 2014––a fall by 56 in just one year.

When everything is the same and Bihar had not undergone any big upheaval and mass out migration can this figure fall so much in just one year?

True India’s gender ratio too has declined from 898 in 2013 to 887 in 2014, which is not too much, when compared to Bihar. This much fall is possible.

The figures were released by the census office of India recently.

If the gender ratio of Bihar has really fallen so much than it is a matter of concern and needs a lot of explanation as to how was this possible. And if the 2013’s figure of 924 females per 1,000 males was inflated and that of 2014 right than it is too a matter of worry.

Bihar is seventh in terms of gender ration also known as sex ratio after Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Manipur.

The top regions are Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Sikkim––all very small states.

The gender ratio in urban areas in the state is poorer than that in the countryside.
