Medha corners Tyagi on demonetization at NAPM meet; JD(U) leader asks Didi not to behave like Dada

Patna,(BiharTimes): “Woh didi ke roop mein bahut achchi lagti hain, unhe dada ke rup mein vwyahar nahin karna chahiye (She looks good in the role of sister...she should not behave like a bully,” JD(U) secretary general K C Tyagi told media on the sidelines of the three-day National Alliance of People’s Movement (NAPM) conclave on Sunday (Dec 2-4).

He was referring to her ‘gaddar’ (traitor) jibe at party chief Nitish Kumar for backing the demonetisation move, and cautioned her against behaving like a bully.

The Bengal CM had made the remark on November 30 at a sit-in (‘dharna’) in Patna.

Earlier, while speaking at the NAPM conclave Tyagi came down heavily on Narendra Modi government for its utter failure in all the fronts and for playing into the hands of corporate lobby. He was a very graphic in his speech, which was addressed among others by CPI ML leader Dipankar Bhattacharya and former Jhakhand CM Babulal Marandi.

But Tyagi during his speech made no mention of demonetization.

After he finished the speech noted Narmado Bachao activist Medha Patkar, who was conducting the programme, stood up to ask as to why Tyagi made no mention on demonetization as it has wreaked havoc in the country.

It is only after this that Tyagi stood up to clarify that his party’s stand is very clear. JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar had welcomed it, while at the same time it is against the way it had been implemented. Former party chief Sharad Yadav has been taking part in all the activities against the way it had been implemented.

Tyagi also said that his party will always support all the campaign against blackmoney and ‘benami’ property.

Similar question was raised after the speech of chairperson of Bihar Women Commission, Anjum Ara, who too skirted the demonetization issue.

Patkar said that women actually are the worst sufferer of demonetization. In fact on the first day of conclave on Friday she urged Nitish Kumar to change his stand on demonetization, though she supported his prohibition move.

Almost all the speakers, who gathered from across India flayed the demonetization move and they all see a great capitalist conspiracy in it.

Among others who spoke on the first day included JNU student leader, Umar Khalid, and Suresh Khairnar of Rashtriya Sewa Dal, who threw light on the present day situation in Kashmir, where he had spent a week in October.

The main speaker on the second day was Dalit leader of Gujarat, Jignesh Mevani, who said that he would lead an agitation during the Vibrant Gujarat conclave early next year.
