Demonetisation alone would not yield result: Bihar CM

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said on Monday that the demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes alone would not yield the result as currency notes constitute a small fraction of black economy.

Talking to reporters he said the corrupt would virtually go scot-free if equal attention is not focused on ‘'benami’   properties.

The JD (U) president also demanded a crackdown on gold and diamond hoarders.

The chief minister said the Centre would have to tell the nation whether or not its demonetisation move deprived big people of their black money.

According to him the poor of the country are not complaining about standing in queues outside banks and ATMs for hours because they strongly believe that ‘bade logon ka do number ka paisa doob jayega’ (that is the rich and powerful would lose their ill-gotten wealth). If that does not happen, the Narendra Modi government would have to do a lot of explaining.
