Patna,(BiharTimes): Senior BJP leader and former deputy CM Sushil
Kumar Modi on Monday responded to the questions being raised by Janata
Dal (United) on pre-demonetisation land purchase.
Responding to the JD (U) and CM Nitish Kumar’s queries on the issue
SuMo said the land purchase were legal and not even remotely connected
with demonetisation of high value currency notes.
According to him requisite fees were paid to the state government by
way of stamp duty. His party also files income tax returns.
The former state finance minister said despite being a national party,
the BJP did not have a plot of land of its own for its head office in
Bihar in Patna whereas even smaller parties like the BSP and CPI had
their state offices in Patna.
He also asked where did the RJD get money to construct its office in
Delhi and where did the JD (U) get money to run the party?
He said the decision to buy land was taken several months ago, and the
plots were meant for constructing party offices.
Analysts are of the view that nobody is questioning the need for an
office for the BJP––as SuMo is trying to suggest––but why suddenly so
many plots were purchased in so many places in Bihar and outside so
close to the demonetization?
The BJP leaders are finding it difficult to answer this question.
