GRP recover old notes worth Rs 35 lakh, 14 bottles of liquor from train





Patna,(BiharTimes): The Government Railway Police (GRP) late on Tuesday evening recovered Rs 35 lakh in demonetised Rs 500 notes as well as 14 bottles of foreign liquor from a coach of the Ranchi-Patna Jan Shatabdi Express at Gaya platform.

They were recovered by GRP during a routine check at Gaya junction. No one has been arrested.

According to Jitendra Mishra, the superintendent of the Railway Police, the police noticed a bag lying unattended under a seat in one of the coaches of the Jan Shatabdi Express. When the GRP asked passengers about the ownership of the bag nobody came forward to claim the bag.

Mishra said that the Income Tax authorities have been informed about the money. He said the police would now look at close circuit television camera footage at different stations to ascertain the identity of the person carrying the bag containing the cash.
