BSTDC strike hits Sikh festival





Patna,(BiharTimes): The decision of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Employees’ Association to go on indefinite strike just a fortnight before the start of Prakash Utsav celebrations is likely to jeopardise the Sikh fest, which is scheduled to begin on December 30 and ends on January 8.


The festival has been organized to mark the 350th birth anniversary of 10th Sikh Guru, Govind Singh. Reports said that the agitation is causing daily losses of more than Rs 10 lakh. If issues are not resolved, the strike could affect the festival.


According to the spokesperson of Association, Ajay Kumar,  various services offered by the Corporation have been severely hit owing to the strike causing loss of more than Rs 10 lakh daily.


*There has been no communication from the government’s side after talks were held on ThursdayTourism minister Anita Devi said the government held a few rounds of talks with the agitating employees. It is hope that the matter would soon be sorted out amicably.She conceded that the strike is likely have an effect on the Prakash Utsav celebrations.
