No fund till now from Centre for Prakash Utsav: Bihar government

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh has clarified that no funds have come from the Centre for the Prakash Utsav, that is the 350th birth anniversary celebration of Guru Govind Singh.

According to him the state government had sent the preparation proposal to the Centre but nothing came. The state is spending to prepare for the 10-day event––from December 30 to January 8.

Tourism, urban development and housing, art and culture, health, road, energy, home, public health and engineering, education departments are involved in the preparations.

It could not be officially knows as to how much amount has so far been spent but Singh just said it is huge.

Three tent cities have been set up by the tourism department for Rs 50 crore, the urban development and housing department has purchased 227 buses, roads and over-bridges have been built, roads have been widened, drinking water and sanitation facilities have been provided and the Patna Municipal Corporation is focusing on cleanliness.

Urban development department was spending over Rs 50 crore, while tourism department has so far spent Rs 70 crore.

However,  BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said Bihar government was misleading everyone. He said the railways has spent Rs 50 crore on renovation of Patna Saheb station and on the facelift of another station in the vicinity and re-laying of tracks.

But the state government officials said that save some fund for infrastructure like railways the Centre has so far not given a single penny for the preparation of the Sikh festival though it had

set aside Rs 100 crore as funds for the event.

The state government clarification on the issue came at the time when, it is alleged, that the BJP rank and file is busy spreading the rumour that all the work for Prakash Utsav is being done by the Centre.
